You can say local lobbyists Amy and Lee Hughes are teamed up. Married, actually. But now they've teamed up professionally. For eight years, Amy Hughes had been Memorial Health University Medical Center's vice president for public affairs. Although she represented Memorial in other ways, she spent a good deal of time as an advocate at the state capitol for hospital-friendly measures. And Lee Hughes had operated separately, representing clients such as Gulfstream, Chatham County and CSX Transportation. Both were seen often - although usually separately - at the capitol, at the old county courthouse and at various campaign fundraisers. In June, they formed Hughes Public Affairs. Soon to come are a Web site and a formal press release. The new firm will represent Lee's clients plus Amy's former employer, Memorial Health. |
